Question:
Makro are selling this for 59.99 +vat
Is this a decent player and is it region free. If not is there a simple mod to fix?
Haven't heard of the 115. Is it a new model?
Previous Albas are normally multiregion as standard
You may as well buy the Alba 108 from Argos. It £69.99 inc vat (roughly same price) and is definately multiregion out of the box.

Argos aren't selling the 108 anymore and you get the DVD 114 for the same price.
Multiregion out of the box and plays SVCDs and VCDs
So what's the 115? There was nothing on Google when I searched earlier.
my mistake - it is a 114
Does anyone know if this player plays VCD's and does it cope with RCE titles?
Have a look at the search results:

and

RCE is fine and I think they play VCD but some don't like SVCD. The posts on the URLS above give more info.
Want to get the In laws a first/cheap player for xmas.
Looking in the Argos book - the 108 was a '2 channel' player. Does this mean it doesn't decode 5.1 and DTS? If thats the case is the 114 also a 2 channel player?
Cheers
Argos refer to nearly all their DVD players as "2 channel"
This is very misleading.Don't read anything into it (i expect they all have digital sound output sockets) ;)
