Advice on Wiring
Question:

HI
I have a
SONY 735 DVD player with built in Decoder (DD and DTS)
YAMAHA 396 with built in DD Decoder.
Which means if I use the Amp as a decoder I only get DD 5.1
Would you recoment getting wiring to let my DVD player Decode the Signal (6 wires). Are there any down sides to this. Will things be dsabled on the AMP (like Speaker setups)
The Obvious plus side is that I get DTS.
Where can I get these (5 Wires from cheapish) At the moment I have a coax which cost £20. But I can take that back.
Thanks

Answers:

You can get a 6ch IXOS interconnect from Hifistore for £25 + postage which will do the job, assuming your amp has the necessary external 5.1 inputs of course..
The speaker setup functions shouldn't be affected..

Dont suppose you have a link do you. Ive had a look and cant find those cables for that price.:(
I notice that there is a speaker setup on the DVD player itself which doesnt work because the AMP takes care of it. (eg Speaker Distances) etc
What are the Hifi store like for returning cables. I dont want to get the cabel and find I cant use the amps facilities cos a can imagine the DVD's setup could be a pain to use.
Cheers

**** me it's gone up to £40..
It was only £25 a fortnight ago.. :oh-hum:
I wouldn't bother then mate, DTS isn't that great an improvement (if at all) and I'd wait until you upgrade the amp to a DTS compatible one..
