Question:
Looking for 32" widescreen set. After redecorating I ain't allowed a seperates system anymore :brickwall
So I'm after something with buit in DD5.1,was looking at the Philips 9617 or 9616 ,anyone have any experience of these?
I'd be "allowed" one these as the rear speakers are cordless which means "I won't have cables running over my nice new wooden floor" :oh-hum:
Anyone recommend a set with reasonable 5.1 performance ?
Be warned that wireless speakers are by a large pretty dire
Yeah, wireless speakers leave a lot to be desired! Pity you didn't plan before laying down wooden floor, you can run good cable under wooden floors quite nicely ;)

The floor going down before the cables is a problem not of my making ;)
Found a review(what Video & TV) which say the wireless speakers on the 9617 were as good a wired set.
I'll need to try and get a demo at my local dealer before buying, also looking at a Panasonic DT30.
Demoing a set is the only real way to tell if its going to be any good. Take your own DVDs and make sure you test discs with a lot of rear activity to see how these perform.
Had a demo of the 9617 and was surprised to find how good the built in 5.1 was, only thing I had to compare it to was a Sony DAVS400 and it was as good if not better than that.
No hum etc from the wireless rear speakers, very impressive stuff :)
Seriously tempted by this set now.
