Less in ws on my TV & Player than on my PC?
Question:

I was watching some of AOTC R1 on a PC with PowerDVD and an IT projector yesterday afternoon at work, then watched the whole film properly at home in the evening and I noticed that I saw more of the ws picture on the PC screen, and projected than I did on my TV. Is this just because of my budget 28" TV and Samsung 709 player? Is it the TV or the player?
The particular bit was in the arena fight where R2 pulls 3PO's head off. On the PC and Projector you could see all of R2, including the very front edge of his middle foot. On my TV I could only see about two-third of that foot?

It's overscan on the TV. Used to hide the edges of the picture where, due to CRT shortcomings, the picture goes to pot.

You'll notice on a PC that quite a few transfers have thin black bars at the side to combat overscan. And 99% of my 4:3 DVDs don't actually quite use the full width.

I also have a 709 and have a similar problem. While I was watching The Beach R1 I noticed that in one scene where a photograph is displayed on screen it has some text missing from the left side. It should read Parallel Universe but the p & a were missing, yet viewing it on my PC the full word is visible. I’ve also noticed that when credits are on screen they appear to more to the left than centre.
I originally thought it was my TV but I have since purchased a new one and that is the same. I even gave the disc to a mate and it was the same on his TV (again another Samsung DVD but with a built in video)
