Advice please on upgrade dvd player
Question:

Basically at the minute i have a dansai 852 which is good for everything i need it for, plays every cd media i throw at it, vcd, svcd all play fine. My collection is mainly of (s)vcds on many different media. The problem is now i have a set of 5.1 speakers that im using on my pc at the minute but would like to use them on my dvd player.
I'm looking to upgrade my player to something that plays vcd, svcd on any type of media and needs to play dvdr too as this is what ill be using pretty soon. It also needs to be able to take my 5.1 speakers in some sort of way, im not totally sure on the audio aspect of dvd players, just that a mate of mine has his 5.1 speakers hooked straight in to his dvd player.
Was looking at the pioneers 350 and 454 since they are around a lower price range, can anyone shed some light on this topic? id rather buy a decent make now but somewhere around the 100 - 140 mark would be good. is there a way i can hook my 5.1 on to the mentioned pioneers?
Thanks in advance

The Pioneer DV-454 and DV-350 play pretty much anything - VCD,CD,CDR,CDRW,DVD,DVDR.DVDRW,SVCD,MP3
DV-454 includes all the new elements featured in the brand new DV-350 and now includes both coaxial and optical digital outputs.
So depending on whether you want that extra functionality or not you can choose between them.
Best prices currently seem to be:
£128 delivered for DV-454 - have a look at this thread (http://217.33.154.203/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=114298)
£117 delivered for DV-350 - have a look at this thread (http://217.33.154.203/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=132340)
What sort of connection do your 5.1 speakers have?
You can see the connectors for the DV-350 here (http://www.techtronics.com/uk/shop/50-pioneer-dv-350-k-multi-region-dvd-player.html) but do not buy from this company as they aren't the cheapest or the best.

Are you sure because they seem to be selling it for £127 delivered..... :D

The pioneer don't have a onboard decoder so you'll need a amp to hook it up to the 5300.
