Question:
hi,
i think this case is somewhat self inflicted, although if someone could identify the reason i'ld be very grateful
My sky hasn't worked since yesterday. Basically since my dad was cutting some conifor trees down and one hit the dish.
all i get on the screen is:
SEARCHING FOR LISTING PLEASE WAIT on the blue screen. i have tried turning on and off, nothing changes.
when i go into services, and more specifically signal test i am given the following information
signal strength = about 1/10, just a little bit of grey
signal quality = nothing at all
Lock indicator = NOT LOCKED
Network ID = 0000
Transport Stream = 0000
help please............any ideas, what does your signal test say?
any info would be much appreciated before i have to bring someone in to fix it.
thanks

We had this problem when we where getting our house renovated & the workmen hit the sky dish with a scaffolding pole  . The only way we could fix it without calling out a Sky engineer was to climb on the roof & manually move the dish about until it locked back on to the signal (I sent me Mum onto the roof to move the dish while I sat in the front room telling her when the picture came back cos I have a fear of heights lol :D )
thanks listy, me and the old man have tried this but to no avail.
you obviously need the dish realligned, should cost about £25.00

thanks gram, will call in the experts. what do you think, ring sky themselves, or get a local dealer to do it.
See what the local dealers say cos when me Mum phoned Sky they said that they have a set £60 fee just for the call out & then charge u whatever they think is reasonable for realigning the dish  (that's what prompted her to get on the roof so easily lol :D )
Same thing happened to me - my dish is only at chest height, so it's surprising it has only happened once in a year. I rang the local engineers who fitted it and they realigned it for free!
Needs realighning. If it's not locked then it is not recieving a signal .
Though you say you hit the dish so you may have damaged the LNB the part that points into the dish.Best to get an expert out.
