Question:
Just WHAT are we supposed to buy?? Looking for a set - had my final decision down to a particular model more than once, only to visit the avforums and find that everyone who's got one hates it.
Philips 32PW6006 - loved by WHF and What Video & TV, decent price, but huuuge RGB problem, apparently.
Thomson 32WR25UG - been in 2nd place in Home Cinema's Top 5 for many months now, bargain price, but accirding to those pesky forums, cheap rubbish.
Panasonic TX32PL1 - actually ordered this, only for the dealer to go OOS. Subsequently found all sorts of nasties about it on the forums.
I just want a nicam 32" w/s telly. Doesn't have to be flat, or 100hz, or green or 'owt. Just a clean picture, reliable tube & ok sound, until I can upgrade to seperates. I'm tearing my bleedin' hair out here:nuts:
Philips 6515.

Ta, Wayne, I enjoy your posts at avforums, but beyond my budget, and I'm being really strict on the £££'s - an increased budget would just open up another half dozen or so sets, all (no doubt) with their own set of avforum moans...

What nasties are these ?? I have read about all sorts of problems with the TX32PL10 but the same forums claim none of these issues exist with the TX32PL1.
From what I have read, the PL1 is almost perfect and certainly better than the PL10.
Like you I am sorely tempted by either of these two sets and if only the PL10 has problems than I will stick to 50hz as I have never noticed the 'refresh rate' anyway :)
being a tight arse i payed £450 for my 100hz 32" flat screen from tesco direct and am very happy with it (its a beko) whats in a name???
I've got the Thomson 32WR25UG. For what it cost me (£380), I can't fault it really.
It's not the best TV in the world, but it's damn cheap. A £1000 Sony/Tosh/etc may be better, but I'm not sure it's 2 or 3 times better, and in 2 years I can throw my tv away, get a new, better 32" and still be quids in.
Probably.
What's you budget?
Search the AV forums and you'll find bad things reported about any set.
I'd go for the Thomson, any i've seen have been excellent, good geometry ,nice picture etc.
Empire Direct have the Thomson for 450 ,if you don't like you can always return it.
I've just bought a 32" Panasonic (TX32DK1) for £549.99 from Powerhouse. I think this model has been discontinued and now replaced by the aforementioned TX32PL1 hence the very resonable price.
Having watched it over the last few days I'm very pleased with the picture quality.
Okay, took the plunge - Panny 32PL1. Mainly because I'm fed up of looking. I could have procrastinated (!) about it until the technology had changed and we got dvd's hardwired direct into our minds. Or something.
Anyway, Panny flat-screen CRT-loveliness is on it's way, I hope. Ta for the advice.
Close this would you, Mods, I don't want to read the dozens of 'Panasonics are bobbins' threads that will no doubt follow.

How's the PL1?
They hate everything on the AV forums, to fit in, you have to buy the set they recomend, with 12 months interest free (you can pay cash!!) and an extended gaurantee!!!
they have something bad to say about everything!!!

We are thinking of getting this model from the co op this week!!
With staff discount my girlfriend will get it for £510:clap:
Ive had a 25'' panny for about 5 year and never had any bother with it, great picture too, so this is one reason we are thinking of getting this!
So can you really recommend it ??
The cheapest I can find on the net is
£696.77 inc VAT and delivery at Empire Direct for the TX32PL1
Anyone know where it can be acquired cheaper?
Springer, where did you buy yours from mate and how much?
Slickster £684 delivered from Robertsons (http://www.robertsons-online.co.uk/acatalog/Robertsons_Online_32__Widescreen_36.html) :)
Thanks..
I want to order it but just thinkin.. what about warranty? If it plays up or something, will they send someone out to repair it or do I need to take that up with Panasonic?
You get 1 year manufacturer warranty with as standard right? or more?
