Question:
Hi,
couldn't find it posted (did a search) and I personally can't wait to buy a seperate DVD/DivX player... anyway read http://biz.yahoo.com/iw/021022/047810.html for more info.
Extracts of the article follow:
"The KiSS DP-450, set for release in late October, will enable playback of videos encoded in DivX versions 4.xx and 5.xx."
"Our new progressive Scan DP-450 DVD Player with DivX support is hitting the market exactly at the right time and the right price of 400 Euro."
"The KiSS DP-450, manufactured and designed in Scandinavia, was designed to provide consumers with the highest-quality picture and sound. In addition to DivX compatibility, the DP-450 offers a groundbreaking progressive scan technology that enhances the visual experience, MPEG-4 support, a unique MP3 playback and user interface and a photo album feature for digital photo collections. The KiSS DP-450 also comes complete with the standard CD/MP3, CD-RW, SVCD, VCD and DVD-RW Playback offered by its predecessor, the award winning DP-330."
Can't wait to buy one, although atm I play them using a wireless video sender from my PC or using my laptop's video out. DVDs are currently played using my Scan SC2000. :)
Moving to Hardware
I expected Scan to be the first to offer this.
Don't expect films downloaded from the net to work though; most of them are still encoded in DivX 3.11 which this player doesn't seem to support.

What resolutions/frame rates does it support for divx though? Is it arbitrary or can it only support "standard" reses/fps, ie, 720x480(DVD), 480x480(SVCD), 352x240(VCD) at 24/30fps and 720x576, 480x576 and 352x288 at 25fps.
So you can have a dvd-rw with a few divx films on? Sweet. Then again I don't go for divx much even though I could. I'd probably use it for off-air recordings which is much better
Sounds promising but the initial price of 400 Euros is a bit high. Once it drops it might do quite well.
Bump, just spotted it for 250 -ish at scan. They're bringing out a new version with built in Ethernet.
