I always thought RGB was better than S-VIDEO but is it really?
Question:

Recently I decided to try and hook up my new pioneer DVD player to my JVC TV up trough a SVideo cable to see what difference it makes to the picture and imagine my surprise when i find that the picture through a SVideo cable was a lot more clearer and sharper than RGB.
 Can someone answer once and for all which is better scart RGB or S-Video?

Answers:

rgb is far better. I would suggest that possibly your DVD player is outputting a composite signal, or you are inputting it into a non RGB scart socket on your tv.

It depends. In theory it's RGB. In practice, this isn't always the case.

Yeah, RGB isnt always better.
Different players have different standards and sometimes the S-video output is handled better than the RGB.

The main point is that you think S-video is better so there is your answer once and for all. If you change any of your video products check both out and decide yourself it's the only way.

It is all down to personal preference and the particular combination of TV/DVD player.

My Toshiba seems to give a better picture with S-Video - I think it really does depend on your equipment...

Was your player output set to RGB though?

Spot on analysis!
On my equipment, the S-Video is more acceptable.

The colours always seem to be much stronger via RGB to me,especially with a DVD and S-Video is not,but S-Video can be perceived as being sharper.

On my 36" Panasonic the picture from my Pioneer 656A is excellent from the s-video. I'd say that the quality of both is similar but the picture is different. This wasn't the case with my old SOny DVD player where RGB was far superior.

RGB on the TOSH 100 - the text is nice and sharp plus excellent picture quality.

My Sony 725 and Hitachi TV, RGB wins by a mile.
