Extended Gurantees
Question:

Worth getting for my RPTV....?

Answers:

do extended guarantees cover screen-burn?! ;)
Sorry...

:p

Depends on how much - I'd get some sort of cover as long as it isn't probitively expensive.
How much are they quoting?

Answers:

There was a consumer watchdog woman on the radio today advising people to just buy one guarantee covering all the electrical equipment in the house. Apparently much cheaper when you consider how much extended warranties usually are. Can't think of any companies who do this off the top of my head though.

My TV went back to Toshiba (via Unbeatable) yesterday.
It's pretty depressing having a 14" portable in the living room. :(

Sorry to hijack this thread but ... whilst watching "grand designs" yesterday which featured a nice big plasma in a massively big "living space" my wife came out with the immortal line ...
"oh no, i'd have a projector in there" ...
I nearly fell off the sofa (this from a lady who now has me switch everything on\change channel\etc since the introduction of a tivo).
On the warantee side of things ... I've just had a panasonic 32pl10 delivered from john lewis, £995 list but they throw in their 5 year guarantee ... paid for it on my barclaycard and used the barclaycard price match instead of the JL one to match robertsons online at £769 - credit turned up on the card a few weeks later and I've got a free warantee AND a local store i can go and shout at (if required)

If you paid for it by Barclaycard you can get them to add another year to the warranty and get a total of 6 years!

Richer Sounds £30 for 3 years and you get all of it back if you don't claim is the best extended warranty around.

Pretty good (compared to most) but John Lewis' free cover for 5 years is pretty much unbeatable.

I believe that the Barclaycard extra year warranty is only on top of the manufacturers standard warranty.

If you know someone who has a Costco card, you get a free 3 year warranty with them.

Try and get one which covers wear, tear and accidental damage in the case of rear projection televisions. They are the most likely to be claimed against.
BTW I always thought L & G were damn expensive?
