Question:
Basically the digital out is loose and soemtimes 'loses' the stream so i have to waggle the plug and it works again.
I still have it under warranty (mastercare :shocker: ) BUT this is the problem!
Should i take it back and have the risk of them replacing it with an equivilent model? if they do is it going to be price Equiv or features?
I paid around £180 for the sammy in august 2000, and wouldnt want them to end up offering a Matsui POS because over 2 years thats all the sammy is worth.
Any ideas? will be looking in a tic at the player to see if it is easy to fix the connection.
Sorted!
The digital out connects to a board that is on view. It was very easy to spot as the connection for one of the feet was broken, so when the phono was moved the connection was made.
Just resoldered the connection (well as best as i can, i am not very good with soldering).
Now a good connection is made, and no dropouts.
This looks like an easy repair if it occurs again, which i have no doubt it will.
That's very useful info as my 709 has a similar problem but hasn't got to the stage of having to waggle it!!! Thanks for the info.
As an added bit :
If you remove the case then you are faced with the internals of the player.
If you look at the bottom left corner of the board (where the digital out is) then if the solder is loose/cracked it will be easy to spot. I have not used the player since but expect it to work fine, as the problem was VERY easy to see and hopefully repair.
Mind you anything is better than sending it to mastercare.
