Question:
Thinking of buying a DVD Recorder, the two I am looking at are the Panasonice dmr-e30 and the Phillip dvd r880. Has anybody got one of these models and can anyone shed any light on which media is the best between DVD Ram or DVD-RW...
Looking forward to your replies
I have the panasonic and can honestly say this is one of my best buys ever. The time-slip function (you can play a program as well as taping something at the same time on the same disc!) is a very often used function. Picture quality is very good using the SP option (2hrs) along with very good stereo sound. A bargain now it has been reduced in price.
:o
I'll place a vote for the Philips DVDR 880. Excellent picture quality when recording from the telly at all speeds along with the ability to play CD, MP3, VCD, DVD-R and DVD+R.
BEST OF ALL - The price of the DVD+R and DVD+RW media is tumbling all the time (see link below):-
http://www.bigpockets.co.uk
IT'S YOUR CHOICE! - BUT I CAN'T FAULT MY DVDR 880.
Another vote for the E30, Even with the good prices of Bigpockets, + is still twice the price.
Cheers
Ian
On the comparison tip--Can the panny E30 be bought/made muti-region?..believe the philips can
I dont believe that anyone is selling/modding the E30 Multiregion yet.
Cheers
Ian

The Pana is the better format (had the DMRE20 then went for the Pioneer). Avoid the philips, Philips are flogging their stock at cost just to try to win the "format" wars...

why is this a necessarily a bad thing?
Thanks for all your replies, Plumped for the Panny in the end, received yesterday and i am more than a bit pleased with it. Really like the time slip function, thats what sold it for me I think, that and it looks alot nicer and slimmer than the Philips. It still comes down to the way things look in the end.......
Looking forward to your replies
