Question:
Hi,
Does anybody know why when i applied thte region crack to my marantz 4100OSE the original background image on the screen (orange and red and rather nice if i do say so) was replaced with a boring grey Loewe logo? Is there any way to get the original wallpeper back and if so how?
ok, second question......
the player is supposed to play Svcd's and has anybody tried this and confirm that it can? The instruction manual supplied states that it can.... however I cant get it to recognise them.... just receiving the on screen message "Eject disk"
Any ideas would be appreciated
Thanks

Loewe on a Marantz player? Do you have a Loewe TV?
Secondly what format are the discs in? Are they copied or are they original SVCD's?
Nope, not a Loewe Tv. Its a Sony, and it seems whatever eeprom is in the machine has permanantly been set to display this. The svcd's are a copy.... the first one was at least. I tried to master a couple myself in 4 different formats, one of which it should have played..but it didnt. This in itself doesnt bother me, its just the boring Loewe logo I now have..truly depressing!
Another thing to add to the mystery, if i change the display settings from ntsc to pal or visa versa i get a slight variation on the image...but its still a boring grey image....cant remember the specifics
I have a 4100OSE which is multi region from new from Justin at upgrade heaven. I have neither the orange and red logo or a loewe logo! From memory mine is a gold trumpet close up and blue DVD logo in the middle of the screen
Mine plays svcd's just fine though.
Out of interest what IS the region hack for it?? I thought it was a chip job rather than a handset hack!

Simply because you have applied a generic mod that although will
work, it not the correct mod for this machine. To be honest,t his is what happens when using freely available mods, as this is not the correct way to mod this machine (your 4100OSE now thinks it is a US Loewe model when in region 1 mode, and most likely RGB on scart for example will no longer work).
I hacked the machine with a one for all remote using a method you can find anywhere on the internet.
Scart output still works fine... and my mistake having seen it only one...i beleive it WAS an image of a gold trumpet.
So is there any way to make it think its a UK model again and get my missing golden trumpeet to return?
Cheers
I have a Marantz 4100 (not OSE) and the hack that I used was provided by a member of these forums...
It worked perfectly and I still have the trumpet as my splash screen...
Try here (http://www.home.zonnet.nl/jeroenverhaar/en/vervolgindex/dvdregiovrij/dvdregiovrijall.htm)
I've not seen Jeroen post for a while though...Don't know how to search for users.
I've flashed Philips machines as well and I've never had a problem...
