Question:
Hi all,
I'm some trouble trying to work out how to position my television/speakers for optimum sound.
I've just moved into a new flat and its an odd 'L-Shaped' room. I've attached a drawing (not exactly to scale) of the room.

If anybody can give me some advise about how to set up the home theatre, it would be great.
My equipment is as follows:
80cm Panasonic TX32-PK20 widescreen television
Sony STR-DB1070 amplifier
Pioneer DVD-747A DVD player
B&W DM603S3 speakers (fronts)
B&W DM601S3 speakers (rears)
B&W LCR600 (centre)
I have stands for the rear speakers too.
thanks,
Paul
Where is your sitting position on that diagram? And is there any furniture in there yet?

Sitting position is up for grabs at the moment and there's no furniture in there yet - all we have so far is a 3 seater futon sofa and a rack for the television etc.
I would set it up as the following picture. But that is if you are okay with having a sofa in the middle of the room. The small squares would be your speak positions (if they are on stands). I just realised I didn't put the sub in there. But really that would be up to you as generally bass in non-directional...so it usually pays to experriment a little...

Oh, and those surround speakers can go closer to the walls than in the picture...
members.lycos.co.uk is down at the moment.. can u email them to me please? fatal_2@yahoo.com
thanks,
Paul
I still can see the picture...
But yes I can e-mail it to you... :)
thanks mate - I'll set it up accordingly tomorrow and let you know how it goes... i'm also considering putting the tv and speakers against the 2m wall next to the entry... that wall is not backing up onto any neighbours and would hopefully bother people less... then the two rears would be in either corner of the 3.9metre wall.. and the sofa about 1.5 metres in front of the sliding doors.
do you think that setup would work?
Paul
Yep, sounds like your idea would work. I put things in a different place on the pic, but if you keep that general laying, even if in a different direction, all should be fine...
Just sending the mail now... (not had e-mail access yet today... :( )
