Question:
I know that a fair few people on the forums have one of these gizmos (especially after this bargain was posted) so I wondered what they're like?
Easy to use? Can be used with a Pronto? Picture quality? etc.
Are there alternatives to the one in the link above?
I've got one. It wasn't part of the special offer though - it was full price :(. I find that it makes no appreciable difference to the picture quality of my stuff. That said, everything I have is RGB so I don't know how it affects composite.
I don't use it to route sound though, so I can't comment on this aspect.
It's auto switching but fully controllable from the Pronto. It also has a lock function so you can connect one device to another while you watch a third - presumably so you can record satellite while watching a DVD? Never used that, though.
Thanks Tom, I'll be using one in the same way as you - RGB for the picture only.
Anyone else got any comments?
Tom - is yours one of the Quattro types? I know they come with a remote, but you suggest they do autoswitch when there is a connection. Is that right?
They don't autoswitch widescreen modes though, do they?
