LG DVD5063 Any good?
Question:

The Sainsbury’s near where I live has received stock of LG DVD5063 DVD players for £99.99. I am thinking of buying one of these for my parents but am dubious with LG as a brand after their earlier poor DVD attempts. So has anyone got one of these and can you recommend them.
Reading the manual off the web it has a coax digital out, scart (unknown if RGB enabled) & composite connections.
Is there a region hack?
Cheers

Answers:

I don't know anything about this particluar model, but the rest of the LG 5000 series a cd-r with a file burnt on needs to be played to make it region free
Have a look at this site http://choosefirst.co.uk/ which has more info about the hack

Answers:

I don't have this model but I have a 2 year old LG 2330P. The quality of it is excellent so I wouldn't worry about LG as a brand

We went for it in the end, with my mum's employee discount and a voucher I had, the total came to £86.00!! Bargain
Comes with what looks like a fully wired scart cable which worked on RGB mode on my TV. Will try out if it works with S-video tonight. The only digital output is a coax which also worked fine. A quieter player than my Pioneer 525 and does look quite good. Should do my folks for all their DVD needs!
