Advice needed. Should I buy a 5.1 set-up for my PS2 or a Bush DVDAV7 system?
Question:

Both on sale at Argos for £149.99. looked at review on the PS2 and they don't rate the 5.1 sound 7/10. can't find the exact model but cheaper home cinema in a box don't score do highly either, 7/10 picture and sound.
Would a layman like myself notice much different on the sound/ picture i.e blocking, sound problems on the cheaper produces. The reviewers can compare it to more expensive kit so is this why they don't score so high, or is it that obvious?

Answers:

If you never heard 5.1 before you probably won't notice the difference.
But there is a distinct improvement between kits of £150 and £300. Generally you will get better sound from a separate sound system, then a combined DVD / sound system. The combined system will have had cut backs made to it.
If you are happy with the picture from your PS2, then I would suggest going and getting a 5.1 set-up for it.

Thanks jnms
I used to have a Toshiba 2109b and a digitheatre but my brother moved out and got custody of them :(
The picture on the PS2 is ok and I have the region x kit so I will take your advice and get the 5.1 set-up for it. The good thing about getting it from argos is that I can have a play and if I don't like it i can take it back :norty:

You could probably pick up a digitheatre in the classified forum here for £100.
