Question:
Right, after I think I've sorted the remote control problem out I have another:
When a DVD pauses for a layer change, the signal to the amp via the digital link is lost, so the amp drops out of it's sound mode (DD or DTS), and takes a second or so to come back on, usually meaning it misses some speech after layer change which is a little bit annoying. Anyone know how to avoid it doing this?
Allan,
Do you use optical connection or coaxial? I use Optical and sometimes get a very slight crackle as the next layer kicks in and it redetecs the audio format.
Have you tried setting manually to say DTS or DD from the Auto detect settings?
What was the problem with the remote control? Do you have a link to a previous thread?
Cheers,
Stu
It's OK found the previous Remote Control thread, how did you solve your problem?

its a known problem see here (http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=41098&highlight=MARANTZ+AUDIO+PROBLEM)
the remote control problem did seem to be the batteries, just seemed strange cos some functions worked but not others. In the case of my sound prob, i use a coaxial cable, and it seems to do it whether it's set as auto or specifically set as DD or DTS.
This known problem isn't confined to Marantz either - I believe that Harmon-Kardon and Denon have both had this.
I've read that Dolby and DTS claim is due to newer chipsets. I get it on occasion with my SR7200 but can happily live with it as the performance is so good.
I get it on my SR6200. Apparently it's an interoperability issue. I'm told if you have a Marantz DVD player, the problem goes away.
I guess it depends on how the player is designed. i.e. does it cut off the digital signal during a layer change or does it just feed the amp a "null" input.
