Question:
am looking to buy this tomorrow, but curious whether it will play DVD-R,
also i take it SVCD and VCD/CDR are no problems?

Quite a few people have reported problems with DVD R playback,
probably a good idea to take some of your own dvdr discs to try in a store
The vcd and dvd-r disks I have tried work fine on it.But proberly best to check with your own as mr procter says
According to VCDHelp (http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDname=toshiba+220e&DVDselect=&Search=Search) the 220e will play DVD-Rs and VCD/SVCD on both CDR and CDRW.
It plays all the DVD-r's I've put oin fine.
VCD's are fine too.
However when playing SVCD's my player has lip synch probs - to fix it just press the 'Angle' button twice. Not a big deal but you miss the first couple of seconds audio.
My Richer Sounds bought player had to go back for a replacement cos the MR stopped working :confused:
Tis a great player though.
