Question:
OK, the Suede DVD is an all region PAL release, does that mean it will play OK if I ship it to someone in the USA?
Probably not. North American TVs use the NTSC television system, and unlike most European TVs are not multi-standard. Most Region One DVD players are also incapable of playing PAL discs.
Unless your American friend watches his or her DVDs on a PC or has a standards converting DVD player (JVC and Malata make these among others) then the PAL disc you send won't be much use as anything other than a drinks coaster.
Adam
Thanks for that.
I'll send a Robbie Williams DVD instead then.
Yep, exactly as Adam said, they will need a converter DVD/standalone or a multi-standard TV (which trust me are hard to get - esp in Rear Proj)
I have a Malata DVD player though, so I am happy with my PAL --> NTSC conversion :)
