Aiwa HT-DV1
Question:

Anyone know of a multi region hack for this machine? Makro are doing it for £169 plus vat, but the sound out of it is pretty damn good
PJ

Answers:

I have a friend who bought this and wants a hack.
I can only find HT-DV90 at www.dvdcodes.co.uk but they charge £2 and it might not even work.
I'm gonna stat a new thread about dvdcodes charging for codes, hopefully it will get a response.

Found this on a google usenet search
Peter,
just found this in a Google search:
Follow the steps below to make your Aiwa HT-DV90 region free.
1. Power on the player and open the draw
2. Press the dvd/cd button on your remote
3. Enter the code c-2-5-8-0-c. Testmo e will now be seen on the player’s
display and your TV will show the engineering display.
4.press the up button (above enter), a 4-digit number will appear on your
players display.
5. Press the up button repeatedly until you scroll to number 1402 (02 is the
region 2 code).
6.Press the 0 button on your remote and the display will change to 1400.
Your tv display will now also show region 0
7. Press the enter button of the remote followed by the return button. Your
display will now show TESTMO E again
8. Press the c button and your display will show EPPCLEAR for a few moments.
9. Press the return button on your remote and the draw will close.
10. Turn off the player for about 10 seconds using the remote to set the
memory to the changes you have made
When you turn on the player again it will be region free. I have hacked my
own player in this way and the hack allows the player to play RCE disks
without any problems.
Does Makro still sell this model, I am two minds which to go for either this one or spend a little more for the new Toshiba SD-42HK also at Makro.

Does this hack work for the HT-DV1 though?
