Arghhhhh - Damn DVD
Question:

Hi All,
I'm very new to this but the recent purchase of a DVD player has been fraught with problems. Anyway, I am now the very happy owner of a Toshiba SD220E region free DVD player.
I've recently borrowed some R1 DVD titles (in NTSC format) from a mate but I can only play them in black and white. The TV (a Panasonic TX25 - about 5 years old) doesn't seem to support PAL-NTSC conversion - although the DVD player does.
I'm sure this has been addressed before (apologies - as I say I'm a newbie !) but any suggestions as to how to overcome this would be gratefully received.
The TV may be being replaced in 3-4 months time but in the meantime ......
Cheers.

Answers:

are you useing a scart lead from the dvd player to the tv
the 3 phone leads(yellow, white, red) are no good for ntsc it will play back in black & white
also check to see if the player is outputing in PAL

Answers:

Tobytyke - Use a SCART lead (into AV1) and set the player to output RGB in the setup menu..
Tafsir - the 3 phone leads(yellow, white, red) are no good for ntsc it will play back in black & white
Not 100% true mate. My TV will accept an NTSC signal thru composite.

why i also said i could be wrong is, their will ppl now trying the same lead with there dvd players with their old tv, to say i am wrong and i can use the 3 phone leads to get ntsc to play on their tvs
i was not trying to mislead this guy at all, because i have got the same tv in the bedroom, & i have to use a scart lead to get ntsc films to play in colour
