Question:
Does anyone else find that when theyr'e watching a dvd that has a lot of darkness in it that the blacks kind of move aound, for lack of a better description?
I watched my R2 Unbreakable tonight and it does it quite a bit, it happened on my old player as well.
Have you tried altering the contrast / brightness and colour on your tv?
Do you think that would help?
If it happened on your old player then it must be the tv.
Are u sure that it's not interference from ur other devices? Try swicthing off ur digi box and video and see if it's still there.

Do you find you get sort of dark horizontal bands that move up and down the picture? I get this on my Sharp TV if I try and watch a DVD through RGB, both via my Sony DVD player and my PS2.
I have to use S-Video...
Yep joeprecious, that's exactly what happens.
I wouldn't have thought you'd get it using RGB, seems all swings and roundabouts this dvd viewing lark doesn't it, think I'm going to start just enjoying my films and stop getting stressed about everything.
I was just using my PS2 as my DVD player and thought it was poor quality DVD playback that was causing it, so I went out and bought a Sony DVD player and was gutted when that did it as well.
I'm going to hopefully replace the TV soon anyway. What make of TV do you have?
that will be interference from other sources, either from the aerial on the TV (unplug it to see what happens) or else the lead you use to connect the player to the TV isn't shielded properly, try unplugging any other devices you have near the TV and player.

Thanks - I'll try this when I get home tonight. It'd be good if I can get it sorted because, aprt from this problem, RGB definately gives a better picture that S-Video on my TV.
I think it may be disk dependant, as it seems to do it on some disks but not others. For example The Lord Of The Rings has a lot of dark scenes but it doesn't seem to do it much if at all on that.
I have a Phillips 32" widescreen by the way, about 5 years old.
