Question:
is this player any good?
will it play copies of vcd/svcd?
please help as I have all the latest movies to watch but no player to play them on!
Yes, it is a good player. Obviously not up to the £300+ quality DVD player but still very good.
It will play both VCD and SVCD, it will also play CDR and CD-RW which is nice.
The picture and sound from it match the players at least twice it's price. And the built in Dobly Digital decoder is handy if you don't already have one.
Also, it doesn't have any problems with any DVD discs, like some of the cheaper players sometimes do.
Over all I would highly recommend one.
I don't think its actually quite as good as jnms makes out. There are a few problem discs and picture quality is not as good as bottom end Tosh and Pioneers (look at richer sounds and Toshiba players are well under £140). It does have a few minor niggles and has one of the worst build quality records of the cheapy players. Its particularly renown for having a noisy DVD drive unit.
This is not saying it isn't a good buy, just that there are similar spec players you could consider too.

If you do the latest firmware update, the player is alot better. It's played every title i've tried on it and i've got about 150 dvd's.
