Question:
Following on from the E-pilot thread, can you post any work rounds that have managed to get the macros working where previously they weren't.
I have a JVC widescreen TV which programmed into the E-pilot fine. However, to turn on the power you have to press and hold the power button for a second or so. Unfortunately I haven't been able to work a macro which will turn on the tv. It seems that the signal to switch on the tv doesn't last long enough during the macro to turn it on.
I've tried to relearn the remote from scratch, tried to hold the macro button down for ages, tried to add in delays in between steps but to no avail.
I know that some have managed to get tricky devices working. If you post them, it might give me an idea.
Thanks and sorry if this is not really the right forum any more, but it is where all the e-piot users are!
not too sure by your thread whether you have been able to get the power button to work properly on the E-Pilot. If it works fine then the macro should also work fine as it merely instructs the button to do whatever was programmed.
;) I don't think this will last long in this forum - good luck and it will be interesting to read the replies.
REQUEST: does anyone know of a light controller than can be run from the E-Pilot? All Maplins are now RF and I need a cheap IR one. Actually, we ALL need one (thinks: another gadget, yippee!  )
Moving to Hardware Forum...
If you want to program a button that you need to hold down, eg volume, you have to hold that down button on the original remote longer than normal when you're programming it. I've not tried the power button but works on other buttons ive tried so expect it will.
Has anyone noticed that the E-Pilot makes a noise when you transmit? Similar to speaker interference with mobile 'phones but very, very quiet. You can tell wether the signal being sent is a single pulse or a chain of pulses by listening to it. Spooky. :)
The power button can be macro'd.
I have my Aux panel set up as my home cinema control.
The Power button powers up my Digitheatre, Tosh 36ZP TV and Pioneer DVD646 and then sends a tray eject.
When the show is over I press tray eject take out the DVD and press power on the remote and everything goes to sleep. Sweet.
I've also discovered that you can assign a function to a button, include that button in a macro and then delete the button and the macro still works. Macro would seem to actually copy the button value as opposed to calling the button. Which also explains why macro's can't include other macro's.
Other macros i've set up is Power on the CD panel also powers the separate Amp/Tuner.
I always leave Sky ON so the power button on the satellite panel sends TV Power followed by 507 (News 24 is my Sky "Home Page" if you will)
Nice bit of kit. Only thing I can't get it to do is send a constant stream of "volume down" as a macro to turn the TV volume off. I tried a macro with 25 volume down presses but it takes way too long. The TV volume is an accelerating one. I wanted to do this in my Aux (Home Cinema) Power macro but it's not possible. Compromised by having a big Down button for the TV volume down on the Aux panel and use the + and - buttons for the Digitheatre Amp volume. A suitable compromise.
Getting TiVo tonight. So that's the VCR tab next. :)
