Center placement
Question:

Hello.
I have a 14" tv and a pro logic set up which really does pack some hard fisted punch. The only problem is, i have the center speaker ontop on the tv, but the sound doesn't sound like it's coming from the tv, it sounds like a load of people are on top of the tv
Now is there a proper way to place the center speaker? I have tried it on the floor at first because the center speaker is actually bigger than the tv, then i tried placing it underneath the tv.
I really would like to get this sorted, and i wouldn't mind having to fork out for a pair of stands if it does make it sound good.
Regards,
Craig.

Your center speaker is bigger than your TV?  That's your problem I think..

Answers:

Angle the centre speaker downwards slightly using blu-tak or similar...

I've tried that, it still doesn't sound as if it's coming from the tv though. I've even tried moving the bainet forward to put the center speaker behind the tv, but it just doesn't do what i want. Could it be the size of the tv mucking it all up then???

Have you tried using the tv's own speakers as a centre. Would they be loud enough?

Answers:

...or, get another big centre speaker and have one above the TV and one below

I did this for my parents set-up and it worked great even using cheap (free wih the tv) speakers. I'd like to be able to afford another Linn for mine

I'll take some photos of my seating position and of how it's all been setup.

May be a bit of a silly question but how do you manage to connect up two centres ? I have a sony tava8es and a sdpe9es decoder, would i be able to do this ?

I think a bigger Roger Melly is the answer.

Have you set the distance/delays up correctly in the amp set-up menus?
If you have, maybe try setting the delay of the centre a bit more..

Answers:

No, it doesn't have any of these controls on my mini system...
I think i've got it sorted now though.
Thanks for your help,

How did you sort it ?

Answers:

Moved the center speaker so it fires slightly downwards, and sit further away from the screen.
Not perfect as i expected, but a lot better!
