looking to spend about 100, anyone have any recomendations?



For a sub at that price you'd probably have most luck on Richer Sounds (www.richersounds.com) website. Maybe an Eltax or Gale. I have no idea about sound quality from them though. I'd guess you get what you pay for.



Try a Paradigm PDR10 for about 130 notes from richers - if you can find one. Its had good reviews at www.Audioreview.com and www.Ecoustics.com. Also you'll need a cable - Ixos 1801 is a good one for budget subs - about 20 notes. A bit more than what you were quoting but the sound will be much better than the Gales/Eltax.



phoned them up, the Paradigm has been discontinued.
He recommended the Eltax A8 for about 120 as the next best one.
Im going to go up on friday so I'll talk to the guys there when I get there.



hmmm can get the A8 delivered from Techtronics for 105, it's 120 in richer sounds

Can you let us know what it's like when you get it?



I've got a spare A8 ub if anyone is looking to buy one. It came free with my Toshiba RPTV and i've only tried it to see if it was working ok. I already have a sub so it i just gathering dust in a cupboard.
Anyone interested?



Well, it's up and running. It comes with a, what seems like, nomal phono lead. Thats all I am using just now.
Not being even remotely clued up on these things, I would say it is pretty good. I've watched a couple of scenes from the matrix and fast and the furious. Compared with not having a sub at all you definetly notice the diference staight away. You feel the bass in the action scenes. It just adds a nice extra. The actual size of the thing is about twice what I thought it would be, can take pictures next weekend when I get my camera back. For 85 pound I cant complain, but then the only thing i have to compare it too is the Grundig thing that wasnt an Active sub. As for QED they shipped it in one day and it arrived the next.
Just watching Blade 2 the now, watched it yesterday and well as I have said you can tell the diference straight away.

I've only had it a couple of months and like i said it was only on for a couple of hours to make sure it was working properly as it came with my new Toshiba RPTV due to a recent promotion between Toshiba and Eltax.
