disabled macrovision, backing up
Question:

Have a UH modded pioneer dv 444, mv disabled.
So how do I back up a dvd to vhs tape ?
Composite video out via phono
Scart cable
Scart cable on rgb ?
Having trouble here, cause when I try, it looks like mv is still working.

Answers:

I think this might be against t&c. and you say it looks like MV is still on. nope!!! its because VSH is **** quality!

The Pioneer 444 outputs PAL60.
U need a dvd player to output PAL50, if u want to do backups i believe.

On the basis that you are doing this with non copyrighted material:
You CANNOT 'backup' NTSC DVDs (eg USA/Canada, Japan etc) to a PAL VHS machine without either
a) a DVD player that outputs PAL50 from NTSC discs - yours doesn't OR
b) a standards converter - reckon on between £300 and £800 depending on how good you want
If macrovision is off, you should be able to 'backup' PAL (Europe, Australia etc) titles OK.
But, if you do it with copyright material then you are breaking copyright law and this discussion is outside the T&Cs for this forum.

Answers:

Why would you want to back it up anyway? The whole point of DVD is that it last for years and years without the lost of quailty, back it up to VHS don't make sense. In any case, you can't, chances are that you don't hold the copyright to the the Movies DVD you intend to back up.
