Question:
Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone can give me some advice with this. I recently bought a new widescreen, pure flat screen 28" TV (hitachi) and would like to hook it up to a home cinema system to play my DVDs. I already own a DVD player which has served me well for almost a year (ORITRON 1035) which plays my region 1 discs.
I saw a Panasonic SA-HT 75 in the shops for around £400 which will play dvd, cd, vcd, cd-r, cd-rw, dvd-r, mp3 etc and has a 5 disc changer. It comes complete with 5.1 decoder and 5 speakers + subwoofer. It seems perfect, but I need to know if it will play my region 1 DVDs.....can anyone shed some light?
many thanks
Stacy
Depends on which shop you saw it, if highstreet (DSG, comet etc) then it wil be r2 only. Order online from somewhere like Home Cinema Heaven (see banner top right corner) then the player will be modified to play all regions. Alternatively, you can buy the system unmodded and pay to get it modded somewhere else but this will be more hassle and will usually end up costing more.
HTH :)
so it's not just a case of simply using a remote hack?
Why not just keep the ORITRON and spent £200 ish on a Digitheatre ?
thanks for the info Tyler - I might just do that. Any particular systems that you can recommend?
Well I have the std Digitheatre which can be got for roughly £200.
Quite a few people here have them and for a small to mid size room they rock :)
Some <a href="http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Digitheatre++review&ie=ISO-8859-1&hl=en&btnG=Google+Search&meta=" target="_blank">reviews</a>.
And one at <a href="http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/index.cgi?html=y&id=reviews/hardware/digithtr.html" target="_blank">dvdtimes</a>.
I will check these out - many thanks:)
