Question:
Currently got one of the first gen Amstrad Sky Digital boxes, around, erm, 5 or 6 years this crimbo.
Its buggys as hell, slow, keeps crashing etc, and would pref a new one.
Can I cancel the sub, and take them up on a new offer, or do I have to fork our full wack for a new box ? (How much is a new box)
Fancy Sky + but not the extra £10 charge, and the £200 for a new box.
advertise in the general classifieds on these forums but be aware for a decent box (Sony Panasonic) you are looking at £100 ish.
Same thing happened to a mate at work. He phoned Sky and they quoted him about £140 for a new box. He told them to stuff it and cancel his subscription as he'd been with them for about 8 years on the full package...Lo ! A new box a couple of days later...gratis !!
Got to be worth a try, they HATE losing customers !
So does that mean that because my sky crashes regularly when I channel flip that the box is faulty? I always thought it was because the last software update that added the ability to change channels automatically was buggy.
Mind you, I have great problems scanning through the sky guide as it scrolls really slowly and yet on my mate's Grundig machine (which is only a few months younger than my Pace box) it zips along. I thought that the software they used was common to all the boxes, irrespective of the make.
Would I see much benefit it buying a panny/sony box? Grateful for any thoughts.
