Question:
Whats this about its only got a 2 channel audio output. I have a videologic digitheatre in my main cinema room so wont I be able to attach this to the Bush DVD player to get 5.1 sound, can I do this.
I might use this as my bedroom player so in that case it wont matter if its only 2 channels as i dont have surround sound in my bedroom.
Whats the score here folks with the 5.1 malarky. I get this player for £49 from Grattan with my first order.
Bush player here (http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/commerce/command/ExecMacro/ols_prod_detl.d2w/report?prrfnbr=5332254&prmenbr=6970&type=big&thisMode=ols&cgrfnbr=74896)
Surely it has DD out as a min? The videologic decoded DD doesn't it?
The player probably only has standard stereo phono out that's all.
It says dolby digital ready, so must have some sort of digital out surely?
there are usually 2 audio options with DVD players. The analogue stereo out (phonoe sockets) which is the 2 channel audio output, this hooks up the the stereo L & R inputs on your amp. The digital output (via an optical or co-axial socket), this is the output that would give the 5.1 sound.
The analogue out would only give a Dolby Pro-Logic mix at best.
I guess it's safe to say this player has the analogue and one of the digital outputs. higher end player would have in addition both the optical and co-axial digital output and probably it's own 5.1 decoder which means 6 phono sockets instead of the 2, but your amp would need to have the 6 corresponding inputs also.
According to the johnlewis.com site where it was spotted a while ago it's got Dolby Digital and DTS output. I'm still waiting to see if anyone has got a review or opinion of this, I can't find anything anywhere about it. Anyone....?
