GigaAir 2020 Video/IR sender problem - help needed! :)
Question:

Hi all
I've bought a GigaAir 2020 video and IR sender on the Classifieds forum, and the IR part doesn't seem to work.
To test it out, I've got the transmitter part sending the video and audio from my Samsung 709, through the house to the Sony 14" in the kitchen. The picture is excellent, btw.
The Samsung remote is working fine, and when I point it at the receiver, for the signal to be sent back to the actual 709, and press buttons, the light flashes on the receiver to show that the signals are being received.
However, the little IR transmitter that is connected to the transmitter, does not seem to be working and so no IR signal is being given back to the 709. :(
Does anyone have any experience with this kit/know how I might solve this problem?
Cheers guys :)
Nuj.

Update.... seems that the Sony TV remote is sent okay but the 709, ITV-digi, Sony Amp and Aiwa vid remotes aren't sent???

Its a right pain to set up, Make sure the little ir mouse isnt too close to the reciever on the bit of equipment you want to control.........other than that just keep trying with different positions.

Nujol,
My GA 2020 is going back to Maplins this week. If you suspect the IR dangly is at fault somehow (and I'm not convinced that it is) I'd be willing to swap it for my 'known good' one (dead transmitter unit is reason for return on mine).
I think the transmission 'cone' these gizmos emit are very small and directional so you're likely to sort your issues out with placement tinkering. Try dangly at point blank to the 709, then move gradually around to see where the signal drops away. Experiment a bit more.

Thanks for the advice guys! :)
In which direction does the cone actually come out of the mouse, or is it pot luck?
Thanks for the offer Flimber but as I managed to get it to work with the Sony WS TV the mouse must be okay, it's just a little infuriating.
I just hope I can get it to work when I get Sky installed on Friday
Thanks too to bobwindy - I shall continue to "persevere" with the editing edited edit!!! :)
