Question:
Hi All
Just got a new cd/dvd player the Limit DVD9090 (Multi-region)
Ive tried using optical and I'm getting no sound Ive changed the settings to 6 channel - Raw Mode on the dvd which is correct. My receiver im 100% sure is set up correctly ( used a mates dvd player and worked fine with optical. does anyone have a clue what going on ?
Note: Ive made sure the dust caps have been on when not using the ports.
Any ideas ??? :oh-hum:

unplug the optical cable from the amp end, play a dvd and see if you get a red light in the middle of the cable (i.e a signal is being passed from the dvd player). If no light then you know the problem is the dvd end, if you get a light the problem should be the amp end.
BTW, what sound are you expecting? Dolby digital, DTS, stereo... I have no knowledge of the limit dvd player but maybe it shouldn't be set 6 channels.
Just had a look at the richer sounds website and your dvd player has a dolby digital decoder built in. I therefore think that you should only select 6 channel output if you are using the players decoder and connecting this via the 6 analog inputs an your amp (if you have them). Since, however you mention using an optical cable it sounds like you're not doing this so you should not select 6 channel-Raw mode and select something else in your audio setup. What options does it give?
I do get a red beam. The options the gives are:
-------------------Analog Out---------------Digital Out-----------------
Dolby Digital---6 or 2 Channel----------Raw/PCM/Off--------------
DTS------------------------------------------ Raw/Off--------------------
MP3-------------2 Channel-----------------Raw/Off-------------------
Others---------2 or 6 Channel-----------Raw/PCM/Off
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi all i just checked my program format indicators are not lit up which tells me what speakers are connected.
?????
Have you tried all the Digital output settings? Cycle through them all and see if you get anything. Also have you setup your amp to receive a digital input from your dvd player?
Finally, what does your dvd player manual say with regard to digital output settings?
Ive checked every setting aout 20 times with no luck! Ive packed the dvd up in its box and its going back to richer sounds tommorow and im getting a Toshiba or a Sony.
