Kef Eggs or Bose mini-boxes??
Question:

I'm getting comments that my speakers, on Atacama stands, are taking up too much space.
They are hardly used at anywhere near their full volume power as my wife doesn't like 'loud'...at all. So I'm thinking "What's the point of having these big Tannoy M1s, MC and MRs if they aren't given the dbs they should be taking?"
I've seen the Kef cinema speakers, the egg ones - and the little Bose speakers.
Do these small speaker systems have the dynamic range when on LOW volume settings?
Thanks in advance.

Kef eggs are superb. I run mine through a Denon 3802.
Whilst listening to some CD's the other day and even the wife (who's sort of non plussed most of the time) said "Wow, they really are good."
They go down to 80hz on the crossover and they really do seem to have a good midrange.
Mine seem absolutely fine on any volume setting. Their 8 ohms so are really easy to drive.
On thing to watch out for is that they have changed a little in the last couple of weeks to incorporate Kef's UNIQ technology. Don't know much more than that at the moment but I'm sure their website should have some info.

Kef Eggs.
Bose=poor cheap crap thats overpriced.
Have a read of http://www.intellexual.net/boseframes.html
Might be a bit biased but basicaly no midrange, little base.

Just how good are the Kefs for music?
I'm looking to move my B&W 601's into another room and possibly replace them with the eggs - if they can handle music as well as DVD.

I'd say they are wonderful but only in 5 channel stereo or DPL2. I wouldn't run them in 2 speaker stereo.
Get a good demo of them preferably using your stereo or AV amp. You'll be surprised. Mine have come on a huge amount since making changes in my system.
So far:-
Denon 3802.
Arcam Diva DV88 DVD player
Kef Eggs.
I use a coaxial connection instead of stereo interconnects as TBH there was no real discerable difference.

I've already heard them up and running in a shop but not playing music... maybe worth another visit :)
