All I can see is a red cross :( sorry couldn't be arsed to edit them properly, so I've put links instead. Don't you just love the way that because its temporary & the projectors a bit close, the picture doesn't quite fit yet :p
and all for £170 inc P&P off Ebay from the USA brand spankie
I hate you!!!! ;)
£170 - bargain methinks, what do you mean it's not motorised?!?:norty:
Nice :)
tis a beast.
makes you feel sick really:oh-hum: ;)
Damn... that's 14" bigger than mine! (no filthy comments please)
Have you got a ceiling mount for your projector sorted yet?

Have you got a ceiling mount for your projector sorted yet? not yet, going to wait until I move, & decide which type to get.
I wish I could afford a screen like that.
And A house to put it in
Check out the Unicol brackets as they can handle almost all types or projectors. The Sony bracket for my VW11 was over £200 so I bought the Unicol for one which was cheaper and much sturdier.
Not too difficult to install once you locate the ceiling joists. I've got the component cables running through the loft above but I still need to sort out a ceiling power source.

Not too difficult to install once you locate the ceiling joists. I've got the component cables running through the loft above but I still need to sort out a ceiling power source. yeh I reckon I'll buy a unicol, just depends on whether I can get away with a ceiling mount or whether I need an extension. I've got a UPS to feed the projector once I get sorted. Just got to work out cable runs when I move in
I am a bit of a n00b here as you will prob see from my reg date/# of posts... but I was wondering where you got the screen from and for how much... or if anyone could possibly give some URL's to sites selling screens :)
Why have you got a large breast attached to your ceiling?

You can try www.direkt2u.co.uk for a UK supplier of Da-Lite screens. They use American terminology of HDTV format for 16:9 ratio.
The screen I bought was the 78670 which is £245 delivered from walter stuarts (http://amail.co.uk/cgi-bin/e-buy.pl?domain=walterstewart.com&action=add&p=78670) but as I said I got it from This Guy at Ebay.com (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1370610872) worked out at £158.00 delivered couldn't fault him.
Oh and the Breast on me ceiling is a boring old lamp shade :(
That looks very impresive. What projector have you got and how far away is it from the screen?
I'm considering getting a projector but I don't think I'll get more than about 8 feet clearance between the projector and screen. Also what camera did you use to capture those stunning images?:)
8 feet maybe a bit too short a distance, even with a short throw lens. I get a 92" diagonal (widescreen 16:9) from about 13 feet with a Sony VW11.
Bear in mind that you measure from the front of the lens and consider the distance from the wall to the projector screen. You've probably got about 7 feet (just over 2 metres) to play with
Have a look at the throw distance charts here: http://www.ivojo.co.uk/panasonic-pt-ae100e.htm
http://www.ivojo.co.uk/sanyo-plv-30.htm
http://www.ivojo.co.uk/sony-vpl-vw11ht.htm
It's nearer 9 foot, I've taken into account building a shelf to house the projector which will take up about 1-2 foot, so the 9 ft begins from two foot away from the wall.
I could get another 4 foot if I placed the screen into the room's bay window but that would involve some serious room alterations. I was trying to solve the problem with a screen with a stand. Thanks for the links I'll check them out.:)
projector is a Panasonic LC75e (http://www.panasonic.co.uk/nw/products/product.asp?c=PTLC75E_) (1500 on ebay) about 8 feet from the screen, the camara was a 1.5mp Fuji

Thanks threadkiller. So it's 8 feet away, that sounds promising. :)
thread killer is the panasonic a 4/3 pj with a 16/9 mode ,what is the resoloution like with dvds & how does it handle 4/3 tv material on your 16/9 screen, do you watch 4/3 material with black bars down the side?
the reason i ask is that i may have to return my ptae 100 and i am looking at other options if i do.
This is the spec of the projector:

the reason i ask is that i may have to return my ptae 100 and i am looking at other options if i do. the projector switches automatically from 4:3 to 16:9 if you use an s-vid i/p although you can set it manually. Resolution is great on DVD's unfortunately I cant comment on 4:3 as I don't use it for normal TV yet.
the panasonic spec (http://www.panasonic.co.uk/nw/products/product.asp?c=PTLC75E_) shows a lamp life lamp of 3000 hrs on low power, which is how I run mine, and its sooooooo quiet :)
threadkiller where do you put the projector when viewing DVD's behind the seating area or in front and how high up? I read on the AVForums that some people put their's on a coffeee table just infront of where they sit. I've always wondered if these coffee tables are higher than normal:confused:
at the moment its a temporary position about 3 feet up on a shelf. Its behind everyone. When I move I'll permanently mount it on the ceiling, at the right distance to fill the screen :)
Cornelius, when you put a projector on a coffee table, it only has to be as high as the bottom of the screen. The light from the bottom of the lens is projected horizontally, the remainder is projected upwards - the reverse is true when mounted upside-down on a ceiling.
Have a look at page 7 of this pdf for the Sony: http://www.sonyhomecinema.com/images/product/X/VPL-VW11HT(brch).pdf

and nigel_williams thanks, I'll remember that.
oh and one final question does anyone know any sites selling screens?
Try www.direkt2u.co.uk for a UK based supplier of Da-Lite screens - I've got a Model B with CSR 80" x 45" in HDTV (16:9) format. Go for Matte White as I doubt you'll need any extra gain.
Thanks you've been very helpful.
You got that setup for under £200???? I think i've found something to invest my student loan in...
