Question:
Just had a look at one today in Richer's - the manual only labelled SCART 1 as RGB, not SCART 2. I need to pass my Gamecube through it, and don't want to lose the RGB. So, even if it won't output it, will SCART 2 take an RGB input.
Techtronics seem to think it is an RGB SCART - unless they modify it that way?

AFAIK all sonys with 2 scarts allow RGB passthrough either by default, or once selected in the setup menu. I`ve owned and used many sony DVD models, and all have been this way, although I`ve never owned or attempted this on a NS700 - try sonys web site or call their support dept. first if unsure.
Theres certainly nothing been done to the machines in terms of a mod from any dealer to change this "feature"
:p
Thanks Justin. That's what I thought. If my cable digibox can pass RGB, then I'd seriously hope a mid-range or better Sony DVD player could!
You don't stock the Sony's, do you? Do you? ;)

Yeap, but not go it round to adding sony to the new site (it all changed earlier this year) as was waiting for the new range - I certainly won`t be adding the NS700, as its not worth buying in UK NS700s from sony when RS are selling em for £150:)
Will only be putting the NS305, 405, 615, 905 and F models on the site / forums offers within the next few days:(
OK. The MR 700s are £200 though, you know? I've heard they don't even stock them as Region 2 in most stores! And they aren't properly RCE compatible.
Could you give me some more details on the replacements (615, 905, F...)? Are they similar spec/price? And do they all feature the same ugly non-symmetrical design-style as the 3/405s?
I've mailed you in case you're not following the thread.
Tom.
I have said Sony 700 and confirm that it DOES pass through RGB (from an OnDodgy box). And mine plays RCE fine, but didn't purchase it from RS. Macro is not disabled though.
When was richer sounds selling the Sony DVPNS700 at £150? They are at £200 at the moment !
Steve
The Region 2 is £150, multi region is £199.
Yep can also confirm that my Sony 700 from RS does RGB passthrough and cost £199 for the multi-region version. The region 2 was £150.
