Could electrical storms affect my telly?
Question:

Right - last night we had some pretty severe electrical storms, plus the atmospheric pressure was sky high!
Watching the games last night and noticed a 'purple' haze (but not in the Jimmi hendrix style) across the top of the picture. I've got a JVC 28" widescreen telly, sat on top of that is my centre speaker - which is a Yamaha satellite NSP220.
All these speakers are sheilded. but I'm a bit worried that the picture became so visibly affected. So, could by speaker be playing up, or can atmospheric conditions in the weather cause similar problems?
I tried the telly this morning and this afternoon and it was fine, so I'm a bit confused. The telly is from Currys and they are sending someone round next Friday to take a look, I'm convinced he'll see the centre speaker and blame that though
If my speaker is playing up, should the distortion be immediately visible, or would it take some time to affect the picture.
Clear skies today though and the telly seems ok
Thanks everyone :)

Yup, its possible as I`ve had similar experiances with a sony widescreen a few years back. The NS220s are shielded, and you`d have had the problem all the time if it was cauded by the speaker - there should be some way to enable a deguase on the TV though, nothing in the troubleshooting section?
Also, you didn`t leave it in standby when the storms were about did you? Big no no you shoudl see the amount of crap that goes down the NG when theres a storm:eek:
Hope that helps

Well, everything seems fine now - I guess it must have been down to the weather
The effect is certainly no longer visible - a big relief!
