Question:
I have a friend in Canada who has just got her first DVD player and I am trying to find out if there is a simple hack to enable it to play all regions (or at least r1 & r2)... all the best websites seem to be in the UK though (aren't we lucky!) and I can't find any infomation on her player and whether it's even possible to hack it at all!
It's the JVC XV-S200 BK
Any help would make me look really clever!
Thanks
B
Even if it could be hacked for R2, a lot of North American equipment just isn't capable of taking a PAL signal, so you could be wasting your time looking..
really?
so multi region doesn't really apply in North America?
i'd have thought in this day and age
they'd have sorted all that out!
i wont look too hard then
thanks

When I was over there last year I asked about region hacking, and they generally aren't into it as they get all the DVD releases first, and are cheaper than R2, so it isn't really something they need. That's why all the websites are for the UK, so we can use R1.
Multi-region can apply in Canada. It's just that the displays are generally NTSC only. She'll need to buy a Malata or similar to play PAL.
