hi vegechic, i am a bit confused as i put a reply here and its gone! maybe it didnt load on properly or something.
i can sympathise as although i dont get acne, i do hv really greasy skin that is getting much worse lately and is spreading to my cheeks now. my diet isnt good so i cant really give u any advice or that but have u tried essential oils? i make up oily skin ones and they make my skin so soft and lovely and do seem to help. maybe go onto the aroma forum and see if they have any advice for u over there.
good luck!

I sympathise, after having relatively clear skin for years mine's repeatedly breaking out all the time, I've beeen advised to look at changes to diet and the only thing i can think of is i've upped my intake of soya milk and although i love it i'm giving it a break to see if it helps. I've also been told (by a medical herbalist) to increase intake of oils (flaxseed, omega 3) and protein. I've been using essential oils but to no avail, so hoping change of diet may do trick, good luck !

The best essential oils for acne are petitgrain and t-tree mixed.
Put one drop of each into a teaspoon of oil and massage over your face for five to ten minutes. You should see a noticeable improvement the next day. The spots just seem to blend away.
Good luck.

Give up sugars and white, processed foods for a couple weeks-then post back. This works miracles and science is finally proving it too.

Gillian Mckeith says a great little detox that's good for skin is to drink a glass of warm water with real lemon slice in each morning - I've just started this this morning as extra help for my skin, which I'm using salicylic acid on at night now to clear up a few horrible spots.

OOOOOHHHHH!! That just reminded me of a very powerful way to detox your body and heal acne. Had forgotten about it, but all you do is drink 2 glasses of hot water before bed. This will clean out your body overnight. Also good when sick, feeling yucky.

Hi there vegechic
I can sympathise as i used to have really bad acne, used to be on here all the time looking for cures. Spent about 2 hours every night on Acne forums looking for tips on what to do & not what to do.
Anyway im pretty clear nowadays although i still get the occasional breakout! Ive found that eating healthier altogether helps, less fatty foods & more fruit n veg also try;
Taking a multi-vitamin/mineral tablet everyday
Drink as much water as you can (8-10 glasses a day)
Exersize a few times a week
Use steam rooms & saunas
Only wash your face twice a day (Nivea for men i use)
I also do a detox every now & again to promote overall health! Infact im gonna do 1 tonight now. Also you can colon & liver cleanse. Here is the overnight detox;
ingredients:
4 tablespoons of epsom salt
1/2 cup of extra virgin olive oil
2 grapefruits
3 cups of purified water
1) first add 4 tablespoons of epsom salt to 3 cups of water. mix and refrigerate. (you can substitute grapefruit juice for the water if you like, as it makes it taste better)
2) combine 1/2 cup of olive oil with 1/2 cup of fresh squeezed grapefruit juice and mix
3) at 6pm, drink 3/4 cup of the epsom salt solution
4) at 8pm, drink another 3/4 cup of the epsom salt solution
5) at 10pm, drink the olive oil and grapefruit juice solution
6) lie down immediately and try to sleep
7) when you wake up, drink another 3/4 cup of the epsom salt solution
one hour later, drink the last 3/4 cup of the epsom salt solution
9) you should have some serious diarrhea for the rest of the day, and stones should pass
10) eat a light breakfast (juice and fruit) and after 2pm, feel free to eat a normal meal.
Hope this helps > Check some of my previous post's for a bit more info!

Hi - the best supplements for acne, and all skin related disorders, are vitamins A and C and the mineral zinc. there are many others of course but these are the very important ones. So you diet needs to be full of foods containing these nutrients. A portion of liver once a fortnight will provide you with enought vitamin A (it stores in your liver so once a fortnight is enough), eating fruits and vegetables daily (5 a day) should provide you with enough vitamin C. Zinc is a bit more tricky - lots and lots of green leafy vegetables will provide some, oysters are the best source and fish has some. You may want to try a supplement for zinc. Lambers do a liquid one which absorbs quickly into the body. Otherwise in tablet form - 15mg a day should see some improvement over say one month of increasing the nutrients. Good luck!

Ooops!! so sorry, just realised you are veggie! so liver once a fortnight will not do! In that case you need lots of brightly coloured fruits (red, organge, purple) which will provide you with beta-carotene - your body will then turn the beta-carotene into vitamin A which will be stored in your body. However, as betacarotene is water soluble, you need to make sure you have these fruits every single day!!

Zinc is very important for the skin, so a supplement is really a good idea.
Try and include lots of seeds - pumpkin, sesame and sunflower in your diet - these contain so many nutrients and are high in zinc and essential fatty acids, both essential for the skin.
