Question:
Hi folks - I've been trying out the darley chair using my husband as guinea pig. I have him leaning forward to do back, shoulders & neck and then sitting up for head and scalp. Success and his comfort are varied, he finds leaning forward very relaxing but finds it a strain to sit up (while supported by me) for the head and scalp. Anyone any thoughts or advice on how they give IHM to clients using this type of chair? All help appreciated.

Hi Janice
I also used the darley chair to do a number of IHMs recently on a Well Being Day with a local company. I did give people the choice of whether to sit upright or lean back and it seems very individual as to what people preferred. I cant really offer any other methods using the chair, although I did once receive an IHM lying on a couch which was very nice as I could completely relax.
Good luck.

Thanks for your reply vivienne. I'm about to do a round of "taster" sessions for a local voluntary organisation, and want to be both professional and giving people a good treatment. Sounds like the best plan is listen to the client! Thanks once again, appreciate it. .....Janice
hi there
I pratice, and teach Indian Head Massage, and use a directors chair which has canvas seat, and back,it is my experience that people find a strain to the neck when carrying out the massage,i have managed to get round this by placing a rolled up hand towel at back of neck supported by my body, this seems to solve the problem Ajnamoon
