Essential oils when trying to conceive?
Question:

Hello, I am ttc (trying to conceive) and have been given an aromatherapy set for christmas. The essential oils are lavender, frankincense, chamomile and neroli. They are made by a friend of my mums, and i do not want to ask her as I don't want her knowing we are ttc. Am I safe to use the products? There is a massage oil, body lotion, shower gel and room spray?
Thanks
Bear

Hi there, welcome and well done for being so tactful!
Strictly speaking lavender and chamomile are emmenagogues. That is, they can bring on a period. I have my own views on this, but as an aromatherapist I wouldn't advise you to use them.
In fact, you probably are best not to use them at all at the moment.
If you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant, essential oils should only be used in a 0.5%-1% blend which is very low. Now, what you have there may qualifly as this, but unless it states on the bottle how many drops per ml of carrier you won't know.
Sorry but probably best not to use them under the circumstances.
Good luck.

Thank you for your reply. It is a shame, the products are lovely but I will give them to my neighbour who will be able to use them :)
I came across this product recently and am trying to get more info from the website, but they won't tell me the essential oils (which is against trading standards). Do you think essential oils really can help ttc?
TTC massage oil
What do you think?
