Reiki - cancer
Question:

Hi there, I have just found out that a colleague of mines cancer has spread to her lungs, I would like to offer her a treatment to lift her spirits - would Reiki be a safe option do you think?
Thanks

Absolutely safe!
Give your friend as much Reiki as your time and her time will allow. You will do only good.
You may not cure her (in the accepted sense) but you will help her by improving her quality of life.

Hello Swilks,
I'm so sorry about your friend.
For a large part of this year I gave frequent Reiki sessions to a friend who was terminally ill with cancer, almost right to the end. She found it a great blessing - an oasis of calm in the midst of hospital visits, concerns for her family, etc etc
It was a very strong experience for us both - a huge energy/spiritual charge, lots of colours, lots of heat, tingling, cold, head turning ........... I was quite new to Reiki when I was treating her, and it was a big roller-coaster ride for me : for her it was like a boat pond! I could also "see" the cancer inside her body, which was weird.
I always felt freshened from the inside, after the treatments.
It was so lovely to be able to do something so positive for her.
One word of warning: you are likely to be be giving a treatment in some slightly awkward situations - physically I mean. So make sure you are as comfortable as possible: I often found myself in a strained position which I didn't want to alter because of the wonderful reaction to the Reiki. So think about making your patient as accessible as possible.
The other thing I wasn't prepared for were the reactions of the local church members who thought I was doing Black Magic of some sort, while they were trying to save her soul for Jesus........
Another thing is : I never even thought about "protection" from her "bad energy". I never felt diminished by giving her treatment, but enriched by it.
Good luck, although you won't need it.
You are going to have an enriching experience, and help someone : who knows, you may help heal her!

Go ahead it certainly won't do her any harm. I have given Reiki to people suffering from cancer and they said it helped.

I understand it is a good tihng... at worst, it can help the patient accept their circumstances and enjoy their life for what it is.

Hi,
I wish to offer Reiki to my friend's mum whose breast cancer has spread.
I did some colour therapy and was told that visualising the colour green may help to kill cancer cells.
Could anyone back me up on this before I start.
Also you might like to know that Inner Talk do some free CD's one is about healing cancer, another bereavement etc. Check out their website.
Thanks

Hi Carnelian,
Visualising green is activating both yours and your friend's mum's heart chakras. So it is activating unconditional love.
Unconditional love heals. Not necessarily 'cures' but 'heals'.
Reiki is such a gentle treatment that it benefits cancer patients enormously. My wife and I give Reiki healing twice a month at the local Cancer Support Group and everyone who tries us comes back for more.
Please remember that you are treating the person and NOT the disease and that the healing might result in a good night's sleep, or the reduction of pain or any other relief that the client wants at that time.
The best of luck to all of you who give healing to those living with cancer.

reiki and healing can help cancer patients , it is a wonderful thing to do, i spoke about healing into death yesterday at my reiki share, most of my students had already been doing heling on cancer patients.
it is a lovely thing to do, it helps to dispell fear which is a biggy for a lot of people.
when giving to a cancer patient, as has already been said by spinal music, you may be in awkward positions especially if the person is in their bed.
just relax as best you can and let the energy do its work

Hi Swilks
Reiki really helps cancer sufferers. If your friend is having chemotherapy it can help relieve some of the awful side effects.
I also worked very closely with a friend of mine who had cancer, and although he unfortunately didn't survive Reiki gave him considerable comfort. As Paul says we cannot dictate what form the healing takes, but just be assured that it works in whatever way is appropriate. You might also like to look at the book NHS Healer by Angie Buxton King. Angie is both an NHS Healer but also a Reiki Master, andn works from a London hospital. In the book she talks about Sam her son who had leukaemia. Once again although he didn't survive, his quality of life was considerably improved by the healing.
I think as healers we also have to be comfortable with the fact of 'not knowing', i.e. we don't know and certainly cannot dictate the outcome, even though we may like to.
Reiki Blessings
