Any courses in Manchester?
Question:

My mum fancies learning this and I wondered if anyone knew of a course in Manchester/Stockport?

Answers:

As far as I know, all the courses are post grad, so assuming your mum has an A&P qualification, she can contact Linda at
www.thermo-auricular.com
I know VTCT also runs courses.

Most colleges within greater manchester will do a diploma in holistic therapies or there are the universities who do degree courses in alternative health therapies.
It really depends on what level your mum needs to learn from. does she have any previous qualifications within health or beauty?

Answers:

No she doesn't have any health and beauty qualifications. She just wanted to do the ear candling. Is there no-where she might learn just this on it's own?

As I said, the link I gave you is definitely a post graduate course and you need the A&P as this is not gone into in any great detail on the course.
Not quite sure what's involved in the other syllabuses, but you could contact VTCT and ask them.

They are quite strict on ear candling and she would need to get an accredited qualification and insurance.
Get this. Our acupuncturist at work (who has a degree in the subject) also did an ear candling course. She was going to offer it at the Centre but when she rang her insurance company they told her the course wasn't recognised and she wasn't covered. How insane is that? She is insured to stick needles into people but not do ear candling.[&:]

Answers:

Yet my insurance company, FHT, said they would insure me for the therapy as long as I did any certificated course.
From what I understand, Sue and Linda's course was one of the first in the country and when they prepared the training manual, they made sure it was approved by all the major insurers at the time (it took them a couple of years to ensure that everyone was happy).
That, apparently was the only was it could be recognised as an accredited therapy.
