Hiya
And welcome to HP!
If you are just starting out then sally's hair and beauty is a fantastic place to go, when you join you only pay trade prises (even as a student) and they are always having 10% or 20% off days, so you can pick one up really cheap. If you want a more expensive one then try searching the forums as i am sure there are lots of threads giving advice as to which is best.
Hope this helps

Hey Grasshoper,
One of the most important things I think you need to remember when buying a massage table is that this is what your clients are lieing on, spending upto an hour or more on it. Get the best possible table you can afford, you will notice the difference in quality in the upholstory and covering.
Also ensure you get one that is height adjustable, you may offer different treatments that require the table at different heights, if they table height isn't right then then that will affect your treatment, and more importantly could lead to you injuring yourself.
Also think what will the table be used for, a lot of tables are made of wood which makes for a beautiful looking table but can be heavy to carry around - a table trolley could be good in this instance.
My recomendation for a table are always Earthlite, but these are at the top end of the market. are the UK reseller for them, and they also offer 9months interest free credit which is very good - not aware of many places that do. My table from them is the , their mid-range table with lifetime warranty. Its a fantastic table but does cost £355 (or £40 a month). If you want a lightweight table have a look at - but they are more expensive then the Earthlite tables.
Finally for a good general selection of other makes of table .
Hope this helps.

I bought a beauty couch (not my ideal but what money would allow!), it cost me £180 (5 years ago though) and has a face hole and the back lifts up. I cut about 4 inches off the legs cos it wasn't adjustable!! Still have it today though I have one at work so don't need it really. My choice would be an adjustable height wood and wire fold out one with a face cradle, lift up back & carry case with wheels!! The worst thing about any couch is having to carry it a long way with no wheels on - makes you wish you brought a mat instead, lol!!

Thankyou all,
I shall look into all those options - obviously comfort for both myself & the client has to be a top priority & the wheels sound like a must too..
Thanks again

Hi all,
I got my massage table at New Concept in Suffolk and initially got fixed legs, all I could afford at the time. But within 9 months got new adjustable legs for it as I was told that if I was able to go lower it would stop me twisting my back so much.
And it seems to have made a difference. Also opted for aluminium although I work from a treatment room. I thought it would help if I went to an event. I knew what it was like to heft a bike bag around. I also treated myself to a carry case with wheels.
Also went for an adjustable back. I am happy with the product and the company is very helpful.

Hi there,
I just changed my couch this week from a fixed height beauty couch from Sally's to a Masters Adjustable couch from Costco (£169.18). Its 29" wide with face cradle, arm support, cable and adjustable everyone loves it. Bit heavier than I'm used to at 16 Kg. I'd like wheels sometime
I've been lusting (can I say that?) after the Costco couch for about 8 months. Now I've started the Remedial Sports Massage course & the fact that I've got some Great North Runners coming in persuaded me to pay out.
I'd would have liked to have kept the other couch for poolside work - but I'm having to sell it - no place to keep it!

The Master table from Costco is very good, recently went on a course that bought 12 of them! So have experience as therapist and client.

Hello, I was looking at the Costco one on the web and am new to massage tables! Do you know if half of it folds up to support the torso in a sitting position if required, or is it always flat? All the pictures show it flat.
Many thanks

I've got the fabled Costco couch too... got it for a friend for abut 130 during one of their promotions too, timing eh? It is always flat, not really suited for beauty therapy if you need the client tilter upwards.. but you can always buy the boulsters from another supplier.

I got my couch from Beautelle (www.beautelle.co.uk) it is very hardwearing and portable. It also has the backrest that raises as necessary, and is fully adjustable.
They do quite an extensive range, in a good selection of colours, and also have all the additional equipment ie bolsters, cushions, couch cover etc etc.
