Question:

[sm=wave.gif] Hello
I am new to these pages, I have read them for a long time. I am qualified as reflexologist. but not having much luck getting clients at the moment. I went though a phase where I had quite a few, from word of mouth. Does anyone have any tips on where is best to advertise ?

Hi there Glynis and welcome to HP
Have you looked in the Business Development forum? There's usually something there.

Welcome Glynis, why not pop into the new members section and do a little intro on yourself? You'll get a warm welcome, I'm sure.
As Funnybunny says, Business Development is a great place for ideas and suggestions. There are lots of therapists here all willing to share information with one another. I hope you enjoy Healthy Pages.

That's great Glynis, we've been having quite a few maternity reflexology discussions lately so hopefully you have lots of interesting things to share with us.

Hi Siobhan
Just looked at your web site, very good.
I am in the process of making one myself, I used to have one but let it laps as I did not get much response from it.

You are very kind Glynis. I wish I'd been clever enough to do the site myself!
I like your signature. Is that the great Eleanor Roosevelt? It's one of my favourite quotes of all time.

hi glynis,
it is tough getting clients... i constantly am trying. i think its a question of what works for you but certainly just keep telling everyone about it.

Hi Glynis and welcome. Mind if I ask you a question as a midwife? How would you feel about a reflexologist who was treating a client of yours writing in their hand held notes? And what sort of information would you hope to get from the therapist?
Thanks

Answers:

Hi Lynne
I would not mind a reflexologist writing in the hand held notes as they are for anyone to write in, that has given the women any treatment.
It would be helpfull to write what you had done and what advise you had given, if any.
It is important for the Midwife or any health proffesional that sees the woman to know anything that they have had done .

good question, lynne and good answer, glynis!
quite a few of us here have done further training in reflexology to cover maternity care... maybe if after doing a treatment we make a short note, then midwives can maybe see its a beneficial thing to have done... doctors might see it also <w>!

Hi and Welcome to the Forum.
It can take a long time to get regular clients, especially if you are already working, but keep at it because usually once you get them they return.
As you have connections already with other medical professionals I would just make sure you tell them all what you do. Make sure you have leaflets and cards on you all the time and bring reflexology up when you are talking about them and give them any info. You can also offer free treatments whilst you are quite, hopefully you won't have to do it for long!
I have found that it was easier and quicker to build up reflexology clients than aromatherapy and massage clients and it soon took off. As for websites, well these take a lot of hard work, my business partner updates it on a daily basis to make sure that we come up top in the search engines. You have to put a lot of key words in to make sure that you get picked up on a search engine like Google, otherwise you just sink to the bottom. It is a lot of work but we do get clients from the website and I think he does a great job of making it what it is.
Feel free to take a peek!:D

Hi Candie
thanks for the tips. I do advertise in work I have posters up and have put in a proposal to have sessions for staff. which is being looked at by the management. I have also thought about approaching my local gp surgery.
