Confused about IHM courses
Question:

I really need some advice.
I've just completed my reflexology course and awaiting results but am keen to start on an IHM course.
My reflexology tutor has told me that there are not any official guidelines for qualifications you need before treating and charging the public. She is teaching a three day course which involves some case studies and then just a certificate of attendance.
I've looked around and there are some 2 day courses and some that go over a period of weeks. Some cost a fortune and some seem a bit too cheap. There is an ITEC course but that requires an additional A& P qualification and I don't think they will accept my A & P from reflexology.
Help!!
What should I look for?
I'm in Essex so if anyone knows of a good course please let me know.
I want a good qualification but don't want to be ripped off.
Thanks.

Hi , if you did a "complete" ITEC reflexology with A&P , there is no reason why that should not be accepted for ITEC IHM. infact it is the way that ITEC have set up their therapies to be modular so that with A&P you could then go on to add in massage , then aromatherapy etc. Have you asked them?
I did a three day IHM course ( at the London Centre for Indian Champissage on the Holloway Road in North London) followed by 50 case studies ( 10 people 5 times each) an essay . A&P homework to be submitted, a written exam , a practical exam and an assessed group discussion of our findings of the case study work - The actual course was only 3 days but you needed to put in a lot of extra hours to get the qualification.
Also check with your insurance company if they will insure you for the courses you are looking at - that might also help you make up your mind if they are worth doing.
hope this helps a bit.

As Narender Mehta brought over IHM to the UK there is no better place to train in my opinion, or at least with someone approved by the london centre for indian champissage....
Its harder work with the case studies, but well worth it.....
