Question:
For several years I have kept my tarot cards in the box they came in but it now falling apart. I was wondering if anyone had any views on what crystal would be useful to protect the cards when not in use and if wrapping them in anything is beneficial and why as until recently I have not really given it any thought and just assumed they would work for me anyway. Any views on this subject would be gratefully received.
Hi Sally
Tarot cards like to be wrapped in 'silk' squares, it helps to keep the positive energies within them... you can buy the cloths already made up from various 'new age(ish)' type shops...don't like that expression[:-] but, you know the kind of shops I mean.
As for crystals...well use any crystal that feels right, dowse for one if you want, I have a carnelian crystal and a swans feather in with mine...I was just walking along the Embankment one summer evening and just picked up this feather brought it home and popped it in the box with my cards...seemed like the natural thing to do:D

HI
I would have to agree with J on this one, My wife keeps hers wrapped in a silk cloth and also in a custome made Bag, specially for her Cards.
As for crystals, again what ever feels right to you.

Thank you for your views, ideas and reasons. The idea of dowsing for a crystal seems an excellent idea - I shall give it a go in a minute.
The man who runs my favourite crystal shop http://www.rainbowvisions.co.uk uses just a crystal on top of the pile though I suppose as he uses them several times a day as he also does tarot readings, a silk cloth would be rather impractical.
Thanks again
Sally
Ok I am back!:)
Rite I used to read tarot alot and I used quarts amathyst and red carnelian to protect the cards. Also I agree with the others, Wrapped in silk squares and kept in special bags/boxes is a good idea.
There are many ways you can protwct your cards, just go with what is comfortable with u

Yes, I too agree with the others on this forum. As with many things, you have to go with what feels right for you.
For practical reasons, I find that it can help to keep cards in a light box as well as wrapped in a (silk) scarf. If you carry them around with you a lot then it can help protect them from getting bent etc. For one of my decks I use an old greetings card box which I covered with postcards of buddahs etc.
Regarding crystals, I have found that a piece of turquoise is good as it helps me to (and reminds me to) open and use my third eye, as well as connect with higher self. A piece of clear quartz and a grounding stone (to use when giving reading) are useful as well.
You can also cleanse the cards yourself whenever you do a reading, by holding the pack in your hands and visualising healing, bright energy flowing into them.

One idea is to do a meditation with the deck & a crystal of choice asking the crystal and deck to work together and help you carry out readings for the highest good. I did this with one of my Moonstone crystals & now store it in a purple bag with my favourite deck. Whenever I read I hold the moonstone for awhile (or wear it on a cage on my neck or place it on the reading table) and immediately feel in touch with my cards. Just the act of taking my cards out of the bag & handling the stone gets me ready for the reading if you know what I mean. I think it's a good idea to do whatever makes you comfortable - you will then infuse the ritual with meaning & energy.
