Question:
i have a bit of a dilema my friend has problems wearing crystals she has managed ot crack her opal ring and her new piece of amethyst as well she has one necklace that is green she can wear but the others she can't i won't let her near my crystals lol but i am wondering why it is happened all i could think of was it was her energy is strong or it's done what it's meant to do or the spirit wanted out....any ideas please we are confuzzed
Hello prismatico
I think I would agree, usually when crystals are no longer needed...they do tend to either break or go and hide, quite often I have gone to get a crystal only to find that it has moved itself from it's usual place...I take that as a sign that it does not need to be working with me or 'whoever' at that time...It might be a good idea if perhaps your friend dowsed to see if she needed a particular crystal or not...
Green by the way is one of the heart chakra colours...maybe some energy/healing issues there to be done!

[color=#660099]Many people fear the worst when their crystal cracks or if a piece falls off… as though this ‘means something’… but most people don’t realise that crystals are particularly fragile items. Amethyst crystal clusters are notorious for breaking up – they will do so if given enough time, all of them. Our nice, dry, centrally heated human environment is entirely unnatural for minerals that have spent (frequently) millions of years under the ground in a stable fixed environment.
Opal can crack – it is particularly brittle and especially so if it dries out. Did you know that a trick in the jewellery trade is to soak opal jewellery in water overnight before it sits under the halogen lights in the shop windows by day… The water brings back the opalescence – the ‘inner fire’ which everyone desires in his or her stones. By day, under the harsh, often hot lamps – the Opals can dry up ( the opalescence is there because of trapped microscopic molecules of water which act as tiny prisms for light). So – if you have any Opals – put them in water and watch the magic! Some may become ‘too dry’ over time and will never return to their original glory, but most should.
Citrine clusters are more problematic – because most of the Citrine we see for sale in the shops is not real Citrine after all – it is ‘poor grade Amethyst’ that has been heat treated in an electric oven to change its colour to the honey brown Citrine colour. This heat treatment de-stabilises the crystal bed and makes it very brittle, thus crystal points and fragments begin to fall from it. Other than keeping it in a still, fixed temperature ‘glass case environment’ – there is nothing you can do to stop this.
Another mineral prone to breaking up is Celestite – very brittle and unstable; all clusters will break up over time – and especially if handled often.
Where people have crystals such as Quartz points – and they say they break in half… next time this happens – take a closer look at the actual two pieces, fit them together and you will see their fracture line that was the principle cause of their breaking. 99% of Quartz crystals have inclusions and fractures – these were formed when the crystals grew and are perfectly normal. Unfortunately – they render the crystals sometimes prone to breaking because of the angle of the inclusion / fracture inside it. There is nothing supernatural about a crystal breaking – it is a normal reality. Furthermore, contrary to popular belief – when a crystal such as Quartz does break – the (then) two pieces of the crystal are not energetically damaged at all. The reality is – that where once there was a single crystal – there will effectively be then two crystals – energetically speaking at least. Each possessing a new Monad (life-spark in the mineral kingdom).
Where folk have a cut Quartz wand and it breaks – then in these cases it is a different matter. Very few such wands are actually still naturally functioning crystals because of the artificial treatment they have been subjected to - to give them the ergonomic pleasing form that commerce seems to favour. These ‘wands’ are especially good examples of the inclusion / fracture problem – look at them and you’ll often see the point at which it is likely to break. A sharp rap or knock and it will cleanly break at such a point.
Where someone has a natural (not cut and shaped / polished) Quartz point set as a pendant and it’s point gets chipped off – then in most cases the crystal will continue to function the way it did (energetically speaking). Although most people would prefer to think it is no good for them anymore – 99% of this thought is because it will no longer be so aesthetically pleasing for them – it won’t look so perfect as before… and they then might seek a replacement.
So – my main point here is this – just because your crystals might break or crack – don’t immediately think the worst – (something sinister) because most of the time it is a normal, ordinary occurrence… ok!?
All my life, for over thirty years I ha
Hi Sol
Good to know that you're still around and 'popping in' whenever you can, thanks for the above information:)
Jx
wow thanks i have a lot i can explain to them certainly a real eye opener thanks alll! thanks sol i will be trying my own fire opal in some water to see what happens there is one thing i have noticed in shops howlite dyed blue that's pretty anoying and ones that feel like plastic or glass i have kept away from they look too pretty i tend to only go near anything that is rough chunks or a cluster :(
It says a lot when natural Howlite is actually a white stone mainly from China… It is dyed blue to imitate Turquoise and them it’s often called Turquenite. I don’t sell either… enough said.
A Fire Opal is usually a reddish orange colour and they commonly don’t have much ‘opalescence’ or fire – so putting it in water might bring it to life – but precious Opal is really what I was referring to.
Sol.
hello. I jst logged in. I found your site while browsing for information about crystals breaking. I read all your answers but I couldn't find a reasonable explanation to my case. the problem is as follow.
I am a healer and in my work I use also crystals. I am dealing with the case of a woman with a very difficult past and many negative energies accumulated over the years (she is in her 40's). When I say negative I mean things like rapings, infertility due to the rapings, orphanatories and stuff like that. Very heavy. I am quite successfully treating her with my hands and stones, and she is getting better with unexpected rapidity. She is a very spiritual person. Now, after more than 1 month of treatment all of a sudden all her black stones broke down in pieces or chipped (opals, turmaline, ossidiana) and, on top of that, her daughter broke her turquoise stone. I perfectly agree with the explanation of Sol about natural breaking, but in this case? all of a sudden and alltogether?
can you give me another point of view?
thank you very much.
Hi Susanna,
I am no crystal expert. And I assume that the crystals were not all in one box who fell on the flor or something? Once "physical"explantions have been ruled out, then it may be that the she just does not need those black crystals anymore. Time to change?
Artemis
I thought so. but wanted a word of confort.
in fact I already suggested her to stop wearing dark clothes, she cannot afford it with all her problems. then probably the stones were "tired" too. nevertheless is a very interesting matter. I love the world of crystals and stones. It is fascinating.
thamk you very much for your prompt answer.

Susanna,
Without a detailed examination of the puzzle pieces - we will never be able to surmise and suggest an answer. There are possible circumstances where things can shatter as a manifestation of extraordinary power in unbalanced thoughtforms of a person - but such matters do not merit discussion in this forum. Such circumstances are so extremely rare as to virtually be ignored as reasonable grounds for explanation. Synchronicity on the other hand - is a matter well worth investigation. The case of both this ladys crystals and her daughters turquoise breaking simultaneosly - that is interesting; particularly if both events took place in different environments...
This lady you refer to - if she has survived such a tortous life as you describe - it would be very difficult to persuade her not to wear black and dark coloured clothing - as the consciousness will often seek security in such colours. Indeed, a change to lighter and brighter colours will stimulate emotional changes - but I would personally recommend that such changes should be gradual. If you wore black for 20 years and then one day stopped and began wearing turquoise and pinks... it would dramatically affect you. Not always for the best.
Bach Flower remedies and a good astrologer are also positive aids.
Good luck
Sol.
I am a qualified Crystal Healer and agree that stones can crack through lots of reasons, not all supernatural. But dark stones (obsidion, Smokey quartz etc) do take on negative energies, so maybe they had done their work and need to be replaced by something else. Do you dowse? If so, dowse for the stones she needs now.
I was taught that when crystals become exhausted and have done their job to bury them in the garden, and thank them.
Sol's advice was very sound and sage. Crystal's break for as many reason's there are crystals and sizes of crystals on this earth. One thing I have found to help best with crystals and stones is the manner in which I care for them.
Outside of cleansing them with Reiki or other methods it's also wise to take care of them with Human measure. I have found for beds and fragile crystals do not use sea salt to cleanse them, they can dry out sooner. I always use spring water or filtered water that is warm. I will lay the crystals very carefully in a bucket and let them soak over night and then use a very soft tooth brush to clean off any dust. I dry them with a very soft cotton cloth. Diapers work great.
Don't store crystals together without protection, especially if you transport them. Wrap each one in tissue or velvet or something very soft to protect them just in case they hit up against each other. Crystals hitting up against each other can cause points to break or cause chips.
I will cleanse crystals with a cloth after use to remove the oil from my hands, I will dust them periodically if not used for a while or give them a full "bath" as mentioned above.
Never ever use force on a crystal point bed, you'll certainly chip off a point. Some crystals are softer than others and will break with the smallest amount of pressure.
Don't hang crystals in the sun if you are concerned about the color, especially Amethyst, they will in fact fade or discolor. Remember many crystals once came from dark damp caves and are used to that type of environment.
As Sol indicated, just because a crystal or stone cracks and breaks do not think the worst. Even if it is the worst cleanse it again with whatever metaphysical method you use. Sometimes it's a good thing if they break in half because now you have two crystals you can use or give one away to someone who might need one. Just because the crytal may not be as physically beautiful as it once was doesn't mean it isn't still as powerful when recharged.
When buying points and wands inspect them in a bright light if possible. Look for any obvious fractures or potential cracks that may cause your item to break if tapped on something unexpectedly. If it does have cracks and inclusions but you are very drawn to purchase it go ahead but always keep in mind it is a fragile item so treat it with love and respect.
Cheers
