I just thought I would share this with you and your comments will be very welcome.
My first session receiving Reiki was a very profound experience but there is one thing that I have always wondered about.
I had no previous experience of Reiki, I relaxed totally, and could feel a wonderful warm tingling sensation. I was in a state of great fear at the time as I was dreading forthcoming major surgery, however I can and was using self hypnosis to achieve relaxation and I used this during the Reiki session so I was in an extremely relaxed state.. I had mega visulations, starting with the faces of all the people I knew, culminating in visions of my sons which was incredibly emotional obviously they are the souls I am most close to. I then went on to visualise the entire operation, in glorious technicolour, it was not at all scary. I felt very very relaxed and content.
I felt very detached from the therapist really.. BUT and this is the odd bit .... :) at one point I felt her wrap my left foot in a large bath towel for some time. I did wonder where this had come from as I knew there was only a blanket in the room. The towel stayed on my foot a long time, and felt very odd but not nasty (of course when I mentioned this to the therapist afterwards.. there was no towel). Any idea what that was about then??
I'll leave out the final bit, which is totally mega, I'm not sure where I stand with Guardian Angels yet, but I'm working that one out.
I went on to have the major surgery btw, I am just starting chemo now. The Reiki aided enormously in my recovery (after that initial session I sought out a Reiki master and was attuned before the operation).

Welcome to the Reiki forum and HP! Good to see someone else from Aberdeen!
One can have any sort of feelings/visions during Reiki. I don't know what the towel might mean for you. My associations with a towel is: comfort, being made cosy, protection. And since yours was arround your foot, getting grounded...
As for Guardian Angels, I do not work with them. They may be there with me, I don't know, but I do not try to make any contact with them or ask their guidance. Juts my way of doing things.

I've had a feeling that someone elses hands are healing me at the same time as the therapist(s). This is said to be the spirit guides assisting in the healing.
Like you I'm still a little unsure about this atm, but will see how things go and come to my own opinions with time.
In fact last night I had a Sekhem treatment and it definitely felt as though there was more than just the therapist there moving around me and placing healing hands on me.

To avoid confusion .. the Angel thing has nothing to do with the towel. After the therapist left the room for a few moments, I hadnt realised she had gone, someone else had entered and that *person* was patting me on the back, reassuring me that everything would be alright. Of course there was ? noone there. I believed the *person* to be male, tho I could well be wrong about that, as I was considering it was someone close to me who had died and there are two significant male figures in my life who had died, neither of which, on retrospect would have done that sort of thing dead or alive!!!! It was a very pleasant encounter, whoever it was.
Since that Reiki session I have received a few odd ermmm 'encounters' regarding angels. I once found myself in an Angel Workshop, when I should have been somewhere else. I was given an Angel talisman by someone who I had no idea would have had such a thing. Stuff like that.
Anyway my main reason for the initial post is that..I wonder, what the towel thing meant. Yes it could have been grounding because it was probably at the end of a very long visualisation.
