Question:
Hi, does anyone know of a good blend to make for a hand cream, I'm sure this was posted a while back by someone, possibly candie, if so would you mind telling me again,;)
thanks
alli
My favourite blend is base cream with avocado and evening primrose oils added with equal parts of rose and neroli (you don't need a lot - I use four drops of rose and four drops of neroli in a 60ml pot.
It is so delicious it can be used for the face, hands, elbows (my dad even uses it for psoriosis on his ears).

thanks a lot lesley, i'll give it a go

I have found sandalwood essential oil to be the best. I add it to a base cream with evening primrose oil and some orange essential oil. A friend with the driest hands ever always asks for more.:D
OOOhhhh Lesley......that cream sounds absolutely wonderful. I have to say that Neroli is one of my favourite oils and you certainly don't need very much of it. I love making creams with Avocado oil and one of my favourites is to add Geranium to it. Geranium is not everyone's cup of tea but I really like it....especially teamed up with Frankincense. It makes a lovely night cream.
I bet it looks good enough to eat :)

This is the recipe for a solid handcream which needs to be poured into a jar... its absolutely lovely, works really well
10g beeswax
10g cocoa butter
35ml sweet almond oil
5 drops evening primrose oil
blend of frankincense, orange and mandarin (blend to suit your nose!)
You need to put beeswax and cocoa butter in a bain marie (small pot inside big pot of boiling water), let it melt on v.low heat, do not let boil, as soon as melted add almond oil, will harden again then - let it melt stirring all the time, once melted take off heat, add evening primrose oil then allow to cool for just a moment or two and then add essential oils. Stir and pour into sterile jar and allow to cool. Trick is to add essential oils before it starts solidifying but not so soon as it is too warm and just evapourates.
Of course you can add any blend of essential oils to this (10-14 drops seems to do the trick) I also made lavender and rosemary for a friend which was lovely.
As this is made of natural products with no preservatives it will probably last up to 6 months.
People I have made this for have liked it so much they have been ordering it in for Christmas presents (I am covered under my insurance policy).
Good luck, its easy once you get going
Natasha
